Mumbai have left themselves the last two matches

If you'd asked me before the tournament to predict the winner in the Mumbai Indians-Guyana encounter, I might have said it would be better for the Guyana team to not show up for the match at all.But now would be the ideal time for the team from the Caribbean to play against the mighty Mumbai Indians. On paper, this must be one of the biggest mismatches in this year's T20 Champions League, but going by the form shown by both the teams you could say it's more of an even contest.

The Mumbai Indians take on the Ramnaresh Sarwan led Guyana in what could be a make or break match for both squads. While Guyana was sent packing by a rampant Bangalore Royal Challengers team, the Mumbai Indians managed to somehow lose both their matches against less illustrious teams.

What Mumbai Indians had in star power, it lacked in team work and field ethics - Guyana will hope that the Mumbai Indians are still struggling in the field and to gel as a team, and will look to take advantage of the same. The Mumbai Indians will look forward to the match against Guyana to give their fans something to cheer about after two rather disappointing losses.

Playing against a team that is certainly a few rungs below them in quality will give them a chance to recover much needed confidence and the taste of victory for the first time in this tourney. This will be Mumbai best chance, if they can put forth a tremendous performance and manage a huge win, then the run rate might work in their favour.

There were plenty of positives that the Mumbai squad could take from their previous outings, the form of Sachin Tendulkar, Pollard, Tiwari, Rayudu and Bravo, but their fielding has been nothing short of appalling and the bowling too has been equally bad.

Another factor that has left everybody baffled is Sachin Tendulkar’s captaincy. They will look to iron out all those shortcomings and come up with a flawless performance against Guyana. Their fielding definitely has to be worked on; and with a person like Jonty Rhodes on your team they need not look further.

Guyana have been dealt a hammerblow in their first match at the hands of RCB, and will look to remove the tags of also-rans in the tournament with a telling performance. Ramnaresh Sarwan was understandably disappointed with their thumping loss in the first match.

He will be hoping for his team to come out wiser against the Mumbai Indians and to prove to the critics that they weren't here by luck. With Guyana's run rate taking a huge hammering in the first mach, another defeat will effectively rule them out of the semi's spot. They will be looking for someone to come to the party big time, like Pollard did in last year's edition and single handedly took T&T till the final.

Mumbai have left themselves with all to do in the last two matches and will need wins and other results going their way, if they have to make the semis spot. They have lost their last two matches when it looked like they would come out victors. Could this be the turning point in the tournament for the Mumbai Indians or just another disappointing outing for them and their fans, we'll have to wait and watch. With the likes of Sachin, Pollard and Malinga in the team you can never take them out of the reckoning.
