Team India’s Batting Woes Continue

India’s batting woes continue as VVS Laxman also played irresponsible shot to be caught at deep mid-wicket off Lasith Malinga. Laxman made a painstaking 22 off 61 balls. India were 178/5 after Laxman’s dismissal.

After scoring brilliant ton (109), Virender Sehwag threw away his wicket while trying to chase a wide delivery from Walegedera which was caught at second slip.

A brilliant ton from Virender Sehwag helped India make a recovery of sorts after losing three of their top order batsmen with just 101 runs on the board. Sehwag’s ton came off 108 ball and consisted of 18 fours and 1 six.

Play on Day four of the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka being played here at the Galle International Stadium kicked off on time as bright sunshine bathed the ground after the gloomy conditions of the first few days.

India started their first innings from their overnight score of 140/3 with Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman on the crease.

India would be hoping Sehwag to stay for a while and bail them out of trouble as they still require almost another 200 runs to avoid the follow on.

Day 3 of the Test saw Sri Lanka declare their first innings at a massive 520/8. India, who came out to bat in the last session of the day lost the wickets of Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
