4 Top Indian Players Pay Cut For IPL
Annoyed by the 20 percent pay cut rule laid down by the Indian Premier League, four top Indian players- Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra- met BCCI president Shashank Manohar on Friday and asked him to look into the matter.
Though the outcome of the meeting is still not known, sources close to BCCI revealed that the four players have conveyed their reservations about the new rule in which a cricketer, who takes part in IPL IV, will see his pay cut by 20 per cent if his team does not finish in the top three of the cash-rich league.
However, the clause does not apply to the Indian uncapped players who have a fixed salary. It was also learnt that all the players of the ten IPL teams were shocked to read the new clause and decided to convey their reservations about this to the BCCI.
As per new rule, Gautam Gambhir, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping 11.04 crore, will get only 8.83 crore if his team fails to make it to the top three in IPL IV.
